SABINE BRETTSCHNEIDER (DE)

This is Sabine Brettschneider's second solo exhibition at the Green Door Gallery. Here she presents her latest series of paintings in a show entitled  "COME CLOSER".

It is an invitation to the viewer to share the moments of life, turbulence, encounters, fragments of stories which have been captured by the artist with her use of strong brush strokes and thinly drawn lines. The paintings reveal memories and emotions; the traces of sadness, joy or anger become colour. So come closer and join the journey…

Born in Germany, Sabine Brettschneider is a graduate in art and literature. She has travelled  throughout South East Asia, India and South America and lived in Bangkok and Quito. She worked for Cultural Centres and theatres in Germany, Chennai and  New York.

She currently lives in Brussels. She participates regularly in international projects and exhibitions throughout Europe. Her work appears in private collections in Europe, Japan and the United States.

"I've always loved to travel. I've always loved literature, poems and stories. My paintings are about assimilating memories, experiences and feelings merging into the act of painting.  In search of an individual  language I mix different techniques to create a vivid and vibrating surface, transforming the motives into abstract art work. I don’t want to simply illustrate but to catch a certain atmosphere, a feeling that the motives evoke.

The powerful application of the oil paint and the contrasting colours give depth and dynamic.

Water colours and pastels are a further exciting way to combine painting and drawing, structure and colour to an abstract composition, more subtle though and lighter in appearance, to capture  a moment.
