HELEN O'SULLIVAN-TYRRELL

Helen O’Sullivan-Tyrrell is an Irish artist living in Belgium. Amuse-bouche is all about food and its place in the artist's psyche: comfort food, food for special occasions, everyday food. With titles such as “Sunday Dinner”, “Soda Bread” and “Popcorn”, this exhibition is beyond visual representation, it is all about associations, recollections and nostalgia; our sense of taste and smell being closely bound to memory. 

 

(°London, 1968) is an Irish artist living in Belgium. She is an architect by training and studied painting and life drawing at the BKO (Beeldende Kunst Overijse) art academy. 

 

She was selected for the final of the BP Portrait Award 2015. She was among the finalists of the Belfius Art Prize 2014 and the Hennessy Portrait Prize 2014 and again in 2015.  (see video from 1:35)
 

Her work has been selected for the Royal Ulster Academy annual exhibitions in 2013, 2017 and 2018. Two of her paintings have been acquired by the Office of Public Works for the Irish State Art Collection. She is represented in Ireland by Solomon Fine Art in Dublin
