BIRTE HÖLSCHER
TRUE NORTH
16 / 10 / 2025 - 22 / 11 / 2025
Birte Hölscher is a German artist living and working in Worpswede, near Bremen.
She describes her painting as the perceived ‘in-between’, which eludes physical visibility. The image becomes a means of transporting the intangible; the viewer can feel what they see.
The themes in True North arise from her annual residency in Iceland. Birte dedicates her time there observing the changes in the landscape, monitoring how plastic pollution and climate change impact the surroundings. She paints in oil and acrylic, but video, photography and assemblage are all part of her practice.
